This policy explains what data TheDigitalChef ("we", "us") collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website (thedigitalchef.com) and the mobile apps published under the same developer account, including Raceboard.
Who runs this kitchen
TheDigitalChef is an independent software studio operated by Stijn Kramer, based in the Netherlands. We are the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. You can reach us any time at info@thedigitalchef.dev.
What we collect on this website
The website uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and from where. This sets a small number of cookies and processes:
- A randomly generated device or session identifier
- Page paths you visit and how long you spend on them
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (country / region level)
- Browser type, language, screen size, and operating system
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent data, and we do not build user profiles for marketing. Analytics are used solely to decide what to fix or build next.
What our apps collect
Each app has its own privacy details on its App Store listing ("Privacy Nutrition Label"). As a general rule, our apps:
- Use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for usage and stability data, tied to a randomised app instance ID and not to your name or email
- Store user content (preferences, favourites, race entries, etc.) locally on your device unless a feature explicitly requires syncing
- Do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera unless you opt in to a specific feature that requires it
- Do not share data with third-party advertisers
Where an app uses location, push notifications, or any other sensitive capability, iOS will ask for your permission first and you can revoke it at any time in Settings.
Why we process this data
We process the data above on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving small, well-made software, and (for any optional features) on your consent. We keep analytics data only as long as Google's default Firebase retention setting (currently up to 14 months) and crash data only as long as needed to investigate and fix issues.
Who sees the data
Sub-processors used to deliver the website and apps:
- Google (Firebase / Google Cloud) — hosting, analytics, crash reporting
- Apple — App Store delivery, App Store analytics
These providers process data on our behalf under their own data processing terms. We do not sell data, ever.
International transfers
Some sub-processors may transfer data outside the European Economic Area, including to the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it
- Withdraw consent for any consent-based processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens)
Email info@thedigitalchef.dev and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Our apps and this website are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Cookies and choices
On the website you can opt out of analytics by blocking cookies from firebaseapp.com and google-analytics.com, by using a privacy-respecting browser, or by enabling Do Not Track. The site works fine either way.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way we'll update the date at the top of the page and, where appropriate, surface it in the relevant app. Continuing to use the website or apps after a change means you accept the updated policy.
